RONNIE MICHAELS – ALL NIGHT LONG

RONNIE MICHAELS – ALL NIGHT LONG – ’I’m Stickin’ With You’ (Mala 495) late 1964 – ’All Night Long’ has a hard edged beat sound where Michaels sings like a rock’n’roller but it’s most definitely got an eye on the new beat sound emanating from Britain during the mid 60s.

ZONE 26 – AN INTERVIEW WITH MARCO RUGGIO – ’When The World Turns Cold’/’We Chose To Walk’ (World Pacific 77896) 1968 – ’When The World Turns Cold’ is dominated by a Doors like organ sound and violin opening instrumental backing that lasts for well over a minute before singer (Brian Monsour?) bursts through the strangeness.

THE BOYS FROM NEW YORK CITY – AN INTERVIEW WITH DON SALLAH

THE BOYS FROM NEW YORK CITY – AN INTERVIEW WITH DON SALLAH – I’ve recently (indirectly) made contact with Don Sallah who may be best known for his 60s band The Boys From New York City. With the help of his daughter (thanks Danielle) I have pieced together his musical jigsaw which has taken in a variety of styles and fashions (just check out the pics that follow).

THE RHYTHMLADS – AN INTERVIEW WITH TOM CARMELENGO – When Beatlemania and the British Invasion conquered America in the mid 60s most teenagers wanted to form a rock ’n’ roll band and be part of something their parents (for the most part) wouldn’t understand.

LYN La SALLE – AN INTERVIEW WITH SCOODER LaSALLE

LYN La SALLE – AN INTERVIEW WITH SCOODER LaSALLE – ’Randee Ram-Jet’/’Takin’ Life Easy’ (A&M 889) 1967 – I bought this single years ago because I was intrigued by the title ’Randee Ram-Jet’. What the hell did that mean? Also the name of the artist was unknown to me and I’d never heard it before so buying the record was a risk. But I like taking risks when I buy records and I’m sure it’s one of the unwritten rules when you’re a record collector anyway.

THE JUST LUV – AN INTERVIEW WITH FRANK ROSSI

THE JUST LUV – AN INTERVIEW WITH FRANK ROSSI – .’Valley Of Hate’ is a primitive garage protest with strong late 60s folk rock overtones.
It’s got some killer fuzz guitar breaks over a two note organ riff and judging from the lyrics it’s most likely about an encounter in Vietnam.
